Here’s a chance for YOU to give the advice.

Question:

What amount of preening (popping zits, plucking hairs…) is acceptable between spouses?

  2. My fiance loves popping my back zits (and I would like to add that I don’t get many). I’m not really sure why he likes doing that. Most of the time I don’t mind and I know its inevitable so I let him do it without much of a fuss.

  3. What amount is acceptable? The amount you want. You don’t need to ask US what amount is ALLOWED. You ALLOW it. Just say if you want some help - help me. If not, say - it’s cool. I’m alright with it. No reason to ask other people how to live YOUR life!

  4. haahaha fuse. I totally agree. A friend of mine said

    “they should rename it idontneedmyballsanymoresoigavethemtosomeoneelse.com”

    … and I agree.

  6. I’m going to agree that it’s a comfort level thing. And honestly, I have NO desire to know how much preening anyone else may be doing. :)

I enjoy your site, and your humor, quite often. If others don’t, there’s always that little red x up in the corner.

  7. I like popping zits, blackheads, etc., my husband tries to pop mine but it feels like he is trying to pinch off my skin so I don’t really let him, but hey, as long as it’s not done during a family dinner or out with friends- do whatever you want.

  8. I hate when my wife preens me. She loves trying to scratch my head. It’s kinda gross when you think about all the skin that must be under her nails

  9. None!
    Never!
    Ever!
    Ick!
    Eew!
    Gross!

My wife like to tell me I have trim my nose hair. She may be right, and I do, but she wants me to get one of the crazy machines that you stick up there to get the job done. I hear they hurt like hell. No thanks!

Just found your site! Love it! Good luck!

  11. I feel it is best to look your best for your spouse. I recommend going external for ALL of the preening. For a $15 co-pay with decent insurance you can go to a dermatologist who will rid you of all existing blackheads and whiteheads and even those yet to appear for several months to come, in just under 30 minutes.

Plus, there are plenty of professional pluckers and waxers who would do a much better job than your amateur spouse. If you can’t afford it then show some self-pride and do it yourself.

Our spouses should be our best friends and the most respected people in our lives; quit treating them like slaves by making them rub ointment on your ‘roids and rashes.

  12. Karl, what if they enjoy rubbing ointment on your ‘roids and rashes?
I don’t think it makes someone a slave because they do stuff like that for you. I think it’s part of being a couple. And why waste money on something you can do for each other free if it’s something the couple doesn’t mind doing.
We are (thankfully) a ‘roid and rash-free couple, but we do preen each other a little. I’m in my early 30’s and I get a couple gray hairs now and then and they really show up in brunette hair so he’ll take tweezers and pull them out for me. I do the same when he gets a white hair in his goatee/beard. I think zits are gross and can’t stomach popping them on him, unless it’s a blackhead I can use a tweezer to pull out.
But to answer the question, I think it’s whatever a couple prefers and enjoys. If it causes one pain and they don’t like it done to them, it shouldn’t be done to them.
